Creating a Reset
One simple trick to create a reset in your life.
Do you potentially have a blocker that is stopping you from progressing forward on something that is important to you?
In this article I will describe what a blocker is, how to determine if you have one, and what to do about it.
I get asked a lot about blockers - mostly in which people are wondering if they have one. My response is usually to ask if there is an area of life in which you aren't getting things done the way you want to. If you aren't getting things done or seeing some progress in an area you likely have a blocker.
What is a blocker? A blocker is something from the past that has imprinted a memory in your subconscious mind in a way that it may be stopping you from moving forward. A blocker can be created from an event that your mind took as potentially harmful to you and therefore it wants to avoid other situations that are similar. Think of it like your fight of flight response can be trigger in a way that is unknowing to you - but makes you avoid situations where trauma may repeat itself.
This is fine if there really is trauma and you are really avoiding it. Unfortunately what happens is sometimes events or actions are coded in your mind as traumatic, but they aren't really that way when dissect the situation with new information.
Think of someone who was made fun of in school speaking in front of the class and forgetting their speech. If this happened to you - you may have coded this in your subconscious mind as "when I speak publicly and share my thoughts - I get made fun of". Therefore your body starts reacting or purposely trying to avoid situations in which you have to ever do that again. If this starts limiting your career options, this is now a blocker for you.
That example was obvious, but these also present themselves in less obvious ways. Let's say you were told when you were little that you were too affectionate. Somehow your subconscious mind coded that as to not be very physical with anyone you love, especially in public. In fact, it isn't something that you get pleasure from at all. This can be a blocker in your love life.
How do you know if you have a blocker?
Are you avoiding doing the things that will bring you the success that you want?
If you have a blocker, simply put, you have things that you avoid, move away from, or simply don't get done. This can show up as you avoiding certain tasks (i.e. some people have. a blocker around money and finances for instance and have a tough time dealing with paying bills). A blocker can also show up as things you don't want to do (Organize your house, get a project completed, and finalize paperwork). You also may avoid setting goals and working to achieve them in general.
What can you do about it?
This is where life coaching with specialities in NLP and Hypnosis come in. At the most extreme cases, Hypnosis can get rid of deep issues that have been around for a long period of time. Not everyone has those types of deep issues. Instead, you may not even be aware of where a blocker is coming from and need help navigating its origin so that you can rewrite the story for your subconscious mind. We do this using NLP techniques.
